Servicing the Skateboarding and Streetwear market in Reading for 24 years, Hard Edge Unfortunately had to close its doors to the Reading community Mid 2019. Opened by Ash Gaffar in the late 90's the shop began it's roots in denim, whilst working closely with his brother at a location closer to London the pair went their separate ways, thus creating Hard Edge Reading & Hard Edge Maidenhead.
Ash gave me the opportunity to join the workforce at Hard Edge between 2009 - 2012. Which were great years in the Reading skateboarding community birthing a scene video from Beany Samules 'It's All Been Done Before' which was his 3rd instalment to come out the town. The First 2 Videos 'Day's Gone By' & 'Loving Life' were my initial introductions to the older generation with the likes of Dom Henry, Nick Fone, Simon Lewis & Laurence Keefe. After seeing these videos i was pretty engrossed in becoming a part of such a community.
With the closure of Hard Edge the plan is to still service the Reading Skate Scene (however diminishing it may be, I'd like to think there's still potential 2 set 3 set lurkers & a Sol Joel Crew #sosolicrew) & you can be sure when making an order when i see that RG postcode pop up there'll be some added extras going in that parcel.
I've had a dig around YouTube an linked as many snippets/sections of the Projects to come out of Reading From the Late 90's onward. Scroll and Enjoy.
